Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- (Salisbury, October 10, 2012) - The Boards of Lutheran Services for the Aging (LSA) and Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas (LFS) have announced a name for their new collective ministry.  That name is Lutheran Services Carolinas (LSC).

Their affiliation journey began nearly two years ago.

According to LSC President Ted W. Goins, Jr., “This new name represents nearly 90 years of combined social ministry to the people of the Carolinas.  The affiliation has already reduced administrative costs and will enhance programs and opportunities for both organizations. Ultimately, it will also allow us to serve more people and to improve more lives.”

Established in 1960, Salisbury-based Lutheran Services for the Aging has served North Carolina’s older adults through its nursing homes, retirement communities, adult day services, assisted living residences, and information and referral services.  In response to the growing need for at-home services, LSA has continued to develop its community geriatric care management and caregiver support programs, and to pursue collaborative ventures such as PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly).

Going forward these ministries will be referred to as LSC Senior Services.

Established in 1976, Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas has served the people of North and South Carolina through foster care and adoption services, residential services for adults and youth with developmental disabilities or special needs, family and individual counseling, psychiatric services, transitional housing, veterans services, and refugee resettlement.  LFS has also served those in crisis as the Carolinas’ lead agency for Lutheran Disaster Response.

Going forward, these ministries will be referred to as LSC Child and Family Services.

The introduction of the new name includes a new logo as well as new names for some of the LSC operations.

The LSC Administrative Office are based in Salisbury, North Carolina  with additional offices in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Columbia, South Carolina. LSC employees nearly 1,500 people across North and South Carolina.
