The Glamorous Lie Documentary will have its West Coast Premiere at the LA Femme International Film Festival October 11-14 during La Femme Film Festival’s regular screening schedule. The Festival expects a successful screening.
Numerous legal threats by Phillips’ lawyers have already canceled screenings of this film at Vegas CineFest as well as three other festivals. The documentary has successfully screened at the Harlem International Film Festival as a world premiere, winning the Audience Award. The Harlem International Film Festival has suffered no legal ramifications to date. “So far, three festivals have chosen not to uphold the First Amendment rights which protect all of us in this country with freedom of speech,” LaPage says. “If we allow people to bully us out of what is our right in this country, then what did we fight for and what do we continue to fight for?”
LA Femme International Film Festival understands that sometimes documentaries may be of a private nature or in this case chronicling the life and relationship of two people, one of whom happens to be a known business executive and Washington political figure. Its interest is simply to allow the audience to decide the worthiness of this documentary.
The festival will run from October 11th-14th, 2012 in Los Angeles, CA, screening over 100 films highlighting independent features, shorts, music videos, commercials, and seminar/panels with Industry Professionals. The four-day event hosts special networking parties at LA hot spots culminating in a gala Awards Ceremony attended by “A” List celebrities. LA Femme showcases works “by women for everyone” from all over the world and is dedicated to celebrating and empowering female artists creating media for a worldwide audience.
