Follow on Google News | Art Show & Sale - RISE OF VISION, by Jessie Oliver-Laird & Mandycka Johnson - Origo Books GalleryA joint exhibit by visual artists JESSIE OLIVER-LAIRD and MANDYCKA JOHNSON -- Friday November 2nd, 6pm. Origo Books Gallery, Downtown Toronto.
By: Origo Books Knowing that these times are construed and lacking in self awareness, JESSIE and MANDYCKA strive to awaken themselves both through art and the practice of positive thinking, kindness, appreciation, patience, and love. They create from the heart and a little bit of their souls can be perceived seeping into a proudly unconventional display of shapes and colours. In their own words, "To create is one of the most spiritual things one can do and by doing so we feel it is also creating things that make a difference." JESSIE’s and MANDYCKA’s art is moving and strongly influenced by their appreciation for life, love, simplicity, nature, and the constant questions we have about Life —where we came from and what happens when we die—, often exploring the depths, shadows and lights of this world’s wonders and capturing the inner essence of one's being. Their creations play with thought, evoke strong emotions, and show that there is more to life than the eye can see. JESSIE OLIVER-LAIRD is a Torontonian visual artist specialized in Painting and Photography with a BA in Film Studies from Ryerson University. Having a profound connection with nature, spirituality and a background in the technical art of film and photography, she now enjoys exploring thought through the photographic image. MANDYCKA JOHNSON is a visual artist specialized in painting and multimedia arts after studying Digital Media Arts at Seneca College. With a strong notion of life beyond one's measures, her creations seem to come from another dimension, effortlessly sparking interest and conversation with their multipurpose forms and compositions. RISE OF VISION art show & sale will continue until Saturday December 1st, 2012. Located at the store's mezzanine, the Origo Books Gallery is open Monday to Friday, 11:30am to 5:30pm. Opening date: Friday November 2nd, 2012 at 6:00pm. End
