Celebrated Chicago concert artists Beckie Menzie and Tom Michael perform the most popular and timeless music of famous singing families, including The Carpenters, The Andrew Sisters, The Jacksons, The Judds, Steve & Eydie, The Bee Gees, John and Bonnie Raitt, and many more in their “All in the Musical Family” show.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. Menzie & Michael plan to make it a full family affair as they poke fun at society’s obsession with celebrity families by inviting some of these characters into the fold, as well.
Menzie and Michael have appeared at The Auditorium Theatre, Park West, The Pritzker Stage at Millenium Park, The Metropolis, The Empire Room and Maxim’s. They have also been featured at numerous Chicago Humanities Festival ASCAP concerts. Their imaginative musical twists on jazz favorites, standards, contemporary pop, Broadway show tunes and film gems have won them audience and critical acclaim around the globe. The pair has also recently appeared at New York’s Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Town Hall, and has been included in New York’s Cabaret Scenes Magazine’s “Top Ten Cabaret Acts” for five consecutive years. The duo also won After Dark’s 2007 Cabaret Artists of the Year Award and have released a successful CD together titled Better Two-gether.
The Chicago Tribune says Menzie and Michael are “one of the most compelling duos in cabaret,” and Rick Kogan of WGN radio says they are “among the best performers in Chicago.”
