In partnership with CompTIA, Robert Half, Veterans VocRehab and others, the free event will include several presentations focusing on transitioning into an information technology career. Topics presented will include the CompTIA Troops to Tech Careers Initiative, Microsoft Tracks and Certifications, 2013 IT Hiring and Compensation Trends, Transitioning Out from a Veteran’s Perspective and Vocational Rehabilitation Services, among others.
The event will also feature information about NHSoCal’s Veteran’s Day Contest. This essay contest will have five winners, each earning a prize of a free CompTIA class, exam prep and voucher and a Sony laptop computer.
At a time when some industries are losing jobs, IT offers a wide range of entry-level positions with diverse career paths. There were an estimated 300,000 open IT jobs in the United States in January 2012.
“We can devise a game plan for those looking to jump start a career in the IT field,” said Cindy Sutherland, Vice President of Career Development for New Horizons of Southern California.
The event will be on Tuesday, October 23, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at New Horizons San Diego, located at 7480 Miramar Road, Building B, Suite 202, San Diego, CA, 92126. Admission is free, and there will be food and beverages provided.
