Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- During the month of September Bord Gais announced an increase in gas rates of 8.5% and an electricity price increase of 5.8%. Both Electric Ireland (ESB) and Airtricity also announced increases which came into play from October 1st.
Purchase.ie who specialise in products which help consumers to reduce their domestic bills noticed a huge increase in traffic to the site during the month as consumers sought out ways to counter the price hikes and reduce energy usage.
“According to a google analytics report the site had almost 30,000 page views and over 5,500 different people visited the site during the month of September” according to Colm Griffin of Purchase.ie
“ This is almost double the traffic the site registered in August and given the fact that 15% of the visitors viewed an energy saving tips guide on the site it is obvious the decision of the energy providers was a big influence on the traffic increase” (See at http://purchase.ie/advice/energy-rate-increases-ireland )
Purchase.ie sells well over 100 products through their online shop specifically aimed at helping reduce energy bills.
The top selling products on Purchase.ie during the month of September included the Owl Energy Monitor (http://purchase.ie/owl-electricity-monitor )which allows people to closely monitor how much they are spending on electricity in real-time, Radiator boosters (http://purchase.ie/radiator-booster) which are fans designed to be placed on top of rads which blow the warm air generated by the radiator into the centre of the room thus heating the room faster and Chimney Balloons ( http://purchase.ie/chimney-balloon-inflation-tube-2 )which insulate unused fireplaces against heat loss and cold draughts.

As the winter weather sets in Griffin expects more and more people to contact Purchase.ie in an effort to reduce their domestic bills.
“Some of the Purchase.ie energy saving products pay for themselves in a matter of weeks and then start saving you money. With energy usage increasing as the weather gets colder the demand for the products we supply should also increase.
