This project has been in the making for two years and serves as a portrait of life in the hood by and artist who grew up in the heart of South Central Los Angeles. In an interview with Cherise Jones of the LA Times in 1992, she found him to be and articulate young man ready to take on the responsibility of bringing change to urban communities, but first had to make the change himself as a troubled youth.
Since that Los Angeles Times Interview, Yajdi (born Amed Clinton) has since then as a high school dropout acquired a GED, AA, BA, and Master degree in the field he gave 13 years of service to as a social studies teacher, education. Yajdi wants to be a role model for urban youth in the hood. He supports the idea that education and resiliency can also be a pathway to a better life in which you can create a platform to make your dreams come true.
What makes this album unusual is that it portrays life in the hood in a profoundly positive way, although you may hear helicopters and storms, this CD is all about improving urban communities through reminding us of the love shown in the ghetto from one person to another.
Ghetto Chronicles is a very eclectic CD ranging from hip hop and jazz fused ballads to straight up funk with a hip hop R&B twist. AR Select refers to Yajdi as a master story teller with a real soulful soul. And what makes this CD special, is the music! Yes, real music! This raspy crooner really brings something special to soul music. You will enjoy this CD!
Yajdi is also currently working with other Rising Tanner Recording Artist such Cedrick Owens, and LaTanya Michael, both of which have currently released new singles available on itunes.
