Dr. John Christensen celebrated his class reunion in an unusual way.  Dr. Christensen presented “Management of Dental Trauma with Orthodontics” at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry Alumni Day.  Dr. Christensen graduated from the College of Dentistry in 1982. The presentation focused on the use of orthodontics to prevent and treat injuries to the teeth and gums. Orthodontics is a useful tool in trauma management.  Often teeth are displaced and difficult to position.  Orthodontic treatment can place teeth in the proper place without excessive force and further injury to the teeth.  
“It was an honor to present to my classmates,” said Dr. Christensen.  “It was also a thrill to have my dad and mom in the audience.”  Dr. Christensen’s father, Sam, is a retired pediatric dentist.
Dr. Christensen will travel to the University of Kentucky in late October to share this lecture.  The University of Kentucky is observing the 50th Anniversary of the School of Dentistry.
