Living with diabetes, or even caring for a loved one with the chronic disease, can be difficult without proper care. To help educate those affected by the illness staff from Heywood Hospital's Diabetes Center of Excellence will show diabetes patients and families tips and tricks to living a healthy lifestyle.
At the health fair instructors from Heywood Hospital’s popular “Diabetes Cooking Class” will demonstrate cooking techniques meant to help prevent or stabilize diabetes. The cooking class aims to promote a healthy lifestyle for the whole family though delicious new way to use vegetables, lean meats, and fruits.
Cooking Demonstration Schedule:
3:30PM - Learn how to made delicious homemade humus
4:30PM - Loving whole grains - prepare quinoa with baby spinach and red and green peppers
5:30 PM Healthy Snacking: Make two different types of amazing homemade salsa.
Free screenings and healthy refreshments will also be available.
