Ecorite Imaging Goes Beyond Green in Graphics

The company brings retail and marketing display solutions to a new ecologically responsible level. By combining eco-friendly materials with more sustainable process and methods, the total environmental impact of display graphics using Ecorite Imaging products is greatly reduced.

Ecorite Imaging supports the green initiatives of corporate and institutional organizations with more sustainable solutions for events and display graphics. For example, GEVO, a renewable chemicals and advanced biofuels company, works with Ecorite Imaging to produce 3D branding and tradeshow graphics including: biodegradable tabletop display graphics and retractable banners.

Biodegradable print on substrates from Ecorite Imaging include PLATEAU a polystyrene based polymer print medium for detachable graphics; PAMPAS a polypropylene print sheet for banner stands; and STEPPE hi-impact polystyrene print substrate for framed or point of purchase graphics.

Ecorite Imaging’s NILAK is a biodegradable thermal laminate.  The satin-finished, non-oriented polyester is used with plastic or paper substrates. Typically, once paper products are laminated they cannot ever be recycled and don’t biodegrade. Paper laminated with NILAK is able to decompose along with the plastic, even in landfill.  

It is estimated that over 90% of printed plastic is not ever recycled, typically remaining in the environment or landfill for hundreds of years. Ecorite Imaging biodegradable materials completely decompose naturally within about 7 years, with no added treatment or resources.

These biodegradable products ONLY degrade in landfill conditions or naturally decompose in the environment through microbial activity. Additionally, any of the biodegradable media may also be recycled in standard recycling programs.

Dean Paris, CEO of Ecorite Imaging, is the Communications Co-Chair on the PIC Green Committee for the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), and is on the Environmental Committee for PGAMA (Print and Graphics Association, Mid Atlantic).
