PRLog - Oct. 10, 2012 - NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans-based children’s author and storyteller Dianne de Las Casas is given a prestigious listing in the Great Lives in History series, Asian and Pacific Islander Americans edition, published by Salem Press (2012). De Las Casas is featured in the “A-H” book of the three volume set of the series, along with such notables as entertainer Paula Abdul, singer Apl.D.Ap from the Black Eyed Peas, and journalist Connie Chung.

As a child, De Las Casas lived in the Philippines, Hawaii, Spain and traveled across Europe and the United States. A Filipina-American, she is a champion for literacy and often tours in Asia promoting literacy. She is founder of the international initiative, Picture Book Month, which celebrates picture books during the month of November. Picture Book Month was featured in Life Lift, The Oprah blog, among other media.
