The independent agency, who recruits and looks after foster carers in partnership with local authorities, will hold the “introduction to fostering” seminar on the 12th November.
Blue Sky Fostering continually holds events across the South and finds the feedback from those who attend to be fantastic. It has been a very successful way to inform and educate people about fostering with no obligation.
The latest event is free to attend and will be held at the Bournemouth Learning Centre.
There are a lot of myths around fostering and Blue Sky Fostering are holding the event to try and dispel some of them and show people is it far easier to foster than they might think.
Not a lot of people know that people can still foster a child if they are single or have no children of their own. Applicants are very likely to be considered if they can provide a loving home, have a spare bedroom and have the flexibility needed.
Other myths surrounding fostering will also be addressed including maintenance pay and the rewards.
As well as this, other topics include:
• Why young people go into care
• If you are eligible to foster
• What happens during the application process – home visits etc.
There is also a foster carer on hand to answer any questions
The benefits of fostering a child
One thing that will be touched on in detail is the benefits from fostering a child. As well as providing a loving home to a child, foster carers get respite, weekly pay, lots of training and 24/7 local support from Blue Sky’s office in Ringwood.
Blue Sky Fostering looks forward to welcoming you to the event and hopes it helps you decide if fostering is for you.
