The Gift of Theater Program was a collaboration with Higher Family Achievement and The Atlanta Black Theater to expose under privilege youth to the Performing Arts. The weekend event was part of the Atlanta Black Theater’s 40 plays in 4 days festival.
The children had an opportunity to show their acting, singing and dancing talents. They also had guest speakers from local celebrities, beauty queens and professional athletes. They participated in workshops with professional actors, directors and writers.
Nancy Klausner, Mrs. Georgia United gave a short speech about the importance of Higher Family Achievement in the community of Atlanta.
“Many of our youth do not have the opportunity to enjoy events like this because of their social economic status or family situation,” said Nancy Klausner.
One of the main speakers that spoke at the Saturday event was reality actress Mimi Faust who grew up in the Atlanta area and spoke to the children. Her message came from a stand point of knowing their struggles because of her beginnings as a youth in Atlanta. She encourage the youth in always being creative.
“Always have paper and pen, if you have an idea write it down and start working on it immediately while it is fresh in your mind,” was one of the many nuggets of advice Mimi said to the youth.
After she gave her speech she took time to answer many of the youth’s questions about life, TV and entrepreneurship. This was just one of the many events that Mimi is partnering with Higher Family Achievement.

“I was grateful for the opportunity to work with Higher Family Achievement and would love to work with them again,” said Mimi.
Mimi was not the only person who spoke to the youth James Marcus Evans a retired NFL Player also spoke to them as well.
James used his unique presentation called “Power of Human Worth” which he has given to many disadvantage youth around the country. His unique approach ties into the often struggles the youth see on a day to day bases within their neighborhoods.
