Farmer Jaffe Weissing Obtains Final Approval of Class Action Case Against Continental Casualty Company (“CNA”)
Fort Lauderdale – Farmer, Jaffe, Weissing, Edwards, Fistos & Lehrman, P.L.’s class action case against Continental Casualty Company (“CNA”) received final approval today by Judge William J. Zloch. The settlement of the case received preliminary approval from Federal Judge Zloch in June 2012.
The case involved the allegedly systematic denial of long-term care insurance claims. CNA took the position that Florida-licensed nurse registries weren’t covered providers under their insurance policies. Under the approved settlement, CNA is to pay 100% of the claims that were previously denied, and in addition, CNA has agreed nurse registries may be covered providers under their policies.
Farmer Jaffe Weissing partner Mark Fistos commented “We have a strong commitment to bringing cases like these, on behalf of elderly Floridians.”
