Local Worship Center To Host Clean-up Day At New Port Richey Recreation & Aquatic Center

Oct. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- With budget cuts and reductions in staff over the last several years, the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center (6630 Van Buren St., 34563)
is left with a skeleton crew to handle day to day operations. This means regular property maintenance and repairs often get sidelined in lieu of more critical needs. With the City of New Port Richey’s new motto in mind, “Meeting the Challenge Together,” Parks and Recreation Director, Elaine Smith, has been seeking volunteers to help out with general maintenance of the property.  

Stepping up to the plate is Pastor Eliseo Sanchez of the Well Worship Center who has already been organizing volunteers into work groups to address specific projects. The next clean-up day for the recreation center is Saturday, Oct. 20 beginning at 8 a.m.  The main focus will be some painting projects and trimming shrubs. Volunteers are welcome.  The recreation center’s own Youth Advisory Board will lend a hand, and there are opportunities for young children who wish
to participate as well.  

The Well Worship Center is a new congregation in New Port Richey focusing on building community, faith and family. The Well Worship Center has implemented an initiative entitled "DWR (Doing What's Right) Project," their monthly community volunteer projects.  

The church’s members have committed to giving ten hours a month (total of 120 hours a year) to volunteer work within a ten mile radius of the church. They have adopted the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center as one of their main projects, assisting with grounds keeping and maintenance projects to help the City of New Port Richey offset some of the expense of operating this important community center. The church hosts Sunday Services 9:00 am to 11:00 am and Wednesday Service, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at their temporary location (Shalom Adonai, 6345 Massachusetts Ave.)

The New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center, located at 6630 Van Buren Street just north of Main Street, is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The facility is open to the public and visitors can choose between daily use fees or three-month and annual memberships. Please inquire at the front desk about military and city resident discounts.
