UHY Advisors’ David Barton Speaks at SecureWorld Detroit

Conference & Event Center, Oct. 3 - 4, 2012.  Barton presented on the topic of “Information Security in the Age of Anonymous.”  SecureWorld conferences around the country focus on the latest and most critical information related to security education, training and networking.

Barton said, “Corporate IT risk continues to grow daily. Companies must understand the latest threats and how best to deal with them.  Professionals involved with information security strategies can use the material in this session to better protect their organizations.”

The recent rash of hacks and breaches by Anonymous and other hackers has caused many organizations and businesses to question just how well protected their information really is.  The unintentional -- and even intentional -- disclosure of personal and proprietary information is a real threat to most businesses.  

•   New legislation and compliance requirements related to personal information privacy appear almost daily. Unfortunately, as technology evolves, new threats and challenges are also created every day, making it very difficult for organizations to maintain adequate security levels.  
•   This session explored these new threat trends and provided some real world advice on how to address them, including:
o   Malware threats – No longer just a nuisance
o   Patent Trolls – A real threat to small and medium sized businesses
o   Intellectual Property – Ensuring appropriate security
o   New Techniques – Security as a Service (SECaaS), Data Loss Prevention, Encryption
