Call for Entries: Learning on Screen Awards 2013

The British Universities Film & Video Council has launched its call for entries for the Learning on Screen Awards 2013 - the only UK awards celebrating and rewarding excellence in the use of moving image & related media in education.

Oct. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- The British Universities Film & Video Council (BUFVC) has launched its call for entries for the Learning on Screen Awards 2013 - the only UK awards celebrating and rewarding excellence in the use of moving image and related media in learning, teaching and research.  

All nominated entries will be showcased, and the winners announced, at the Learning on Screen Awards 2013 ceremony, at BFI Southbank, London on the evening of Thursday 18 April 2013.

The Awards are open to broadcasters, production companies, education providers, museum personnel and anyone else producing education media (broadcast, non-broadcast & multimedia).  Student filmmakers can also enter via the prestigious Student Production Awards.

The presenter of the Learning on Screen Awards 2012, Professor Lord Winston, said: “The Learning on Screen Awards play an important role in recognising the value of educational media production and the Awards evening is a perfect opportunity to meet the people behind the leading productions in this field, from seasoned professionals to new student filmmakers.”

Entries can be made into the following categories:

General Education Awards
Content delivered as general factual and documentary production that is judged to be valuable for use in learning (broadcast, non-broadcast & multimedia).

Courseware & Curriculum Awards
Content created for use among specific target groups of students who need to obtain particular knowledge and skills or who are at a specific stage in a course of learning (broadcast, non-broadcast & multimedia).

Education In-House Production Award
This category relates to a non-broadcast production by an individual, team or unit that is permanently employed by a qualifying education institution (either HE, FE or school).

Student Production Awards
Outstanding productions made by students as part of a course or training activity. Student entries can be on any topic and are not judged on education merit. Winners will receive Adobe® Creative Suite® 6 Production Premium.

Productions or resources entered must have been completed and/or broadcast during the period beginning 1 October 2011 – 31 October 2012.

Entries should be made online at http://bufvc.ac.uk/learningonscreen. The deadline for entries is 3 December 2012.
