One billion computers threatened by a Java security flaw

A Polish expert has discovered a flaw in Java that could potentially harm a billion computers on the planet.

Oct. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- If Flash has often be accused of containing flaws compromising computer security, Java is now catching up in this area.

The last flaw was detected by Gowdiak Adam, head of the Polish company Security Explorations. It concerns versions SE 5 and SE 6 SE 7 of Oracle software. Its specificity is to affect all OS (Windows, MacOS, Linux) and all browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera ...).
This could affect well over a billion computers worldwide.

It can blow up safety locks to install malicious code that would allow hackers to take control of a machine and steal information. Until a patch is found, Adam Gowdiak recommends to disable Java plug-in.
