Five stars is the highest and most respected rating a nursing home can receive, and is based on health inspections, staffing and quality measures.
“At the Manor of Novi, we are committed to excellence and are honored to be recognized for the high quality care we provide our residents daily,” said Lisa Berthold, administrator. “Our Director of Nursing Kim Johnson and every member of our staff takes great pride in delivering exemplary care in a safe, compassionate and home-like environment.”
CMS developed the Five-Star Quality Rating System to assist consumers, their families and caregivers in finding and comparing nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas to ask questions.
The rating system for U.S. nursing homes was modeled after the American Automobile Association's worldwide rating of hotels. It gauges comprehensive aspects of elder care, including staff-to-resident ratio, cleanliness, staff ability to prevent and treat simple medical problems and attention paid to upkeep of patient appearance.
“This Five-Star rating is consistent with the high level of service, quality and responsive patient care that is provided by this Ciena Healthcare facility around the clock, 365 days a year,” said Tricia Tomkinson, regional director of operations, Ciena Healthcare. “The experienced, dedicated team of professionals at the Manor of Novi who work to meet and exceed each resident’s needs is extremely deserving of this recognition.”
