Designed by acclaimed Head Chef Paul Johnson the menu comprises a selection of meat, game, fish and vegetarian options that fuse together the traditional and the Modern British Christmas.
Stow cum Quy is located just two miles from Cambridge at Junction 35 of the A14 and so is well located for both Cambridge and Newmarket.
The menu includes a wonderful array of dishes all prepared with local, seasonal food and will suit a wide range of tastes. An extended wine list has also been announced by Martin Read who is in charge of the cellar. Christmas ales will also be included along with mulled wine and mulled cider over the festive period.
This year the team has included a Roast Jerusalem Atichoke and Parsnip soup with home made rosemary and garlic bread which looks set to be popular. Included in the range of starters is a Game Terrine, made with local Pheasant, Hare and Partridge, a Marinated Mullet on a risotto and butternut squash cake with roasted peppers in a spinach and lemon grass cream sauce is Gluten free, Home made, caremilsed onion and mushroom Pate and a Winter Salad provide two outstanding vegetarian starter options.
The Main Menu comprises the all time favourite Turkey crown with all the trimmings including honey glazed roast winter vegetables, Slow roasted Lamb shank cooked in a cinnamon aromatic stock with celariac and carrot with a rosemary madeira sauce, a Vegetable Wellington with three bean ratatouille with marsala sauce wilted spinach and roast chestnut, The Fish option is a Pan fried fillet Salmon with crispy calamari, braised chinese cabbage, Scallop pot stickers and hoi-sin sauce. A Duck dish has been added for the first time. This is Confit Leg of Duck with red cabbage and kumquat with findant potato and thyme sherry sauce.
The desserts look equally interesting and enthralling, with Christmas pudding of course but with Chefs' particular twist including home-made marshmallow, award winning Ice creams and sorbets, A CitrusTart with fresh berry compote, A classic Chocolate Brownie and of course a selection of international cheeses with fruit and quince jelly.
The team have announced that the menu will be available from 30th November to the 5th January this yea and will be offering both Lunchtime and Evening availability.
Christmas events at The WhiteSwan at Quy are proving to be very popular indeed since the new team took over the business; "This year they seem to have once again stepped up to the challenge" according to Gerry Skews, who is a director of the company that operates the buisness.
