With the exploration sites tackled by Hydracrat often located on either soft peat bogs or rough moorland, the company has developed a range of "Hycat" rigs, designed to minimise environmental damage and capable of accessing across even the most arduous terrain. The Hycats are designed and constructed to drill to a depth of 200mts quickly, using 120mm drilling systems.
Currently, almost all the drilling work carried out by Hydracrat uses DTH systems and Mincon hammers, for operations ranging from shallow openhole or cored boreholes, through to large ground water abstraction wells of 600mm diameter to over 200m deep. All the Mincon hammers are supplied and serviced by Yorkshire-based Rock Drill Engineering Ltd.
“We’ve been using Mincon DTH Hammers supplied by Rock Drill Engineering for about five years now,” stated Bobby Hill on behalf of Hydracrat. “They are reliable, provide a quick service, are competitively priced and give excellent performance in use. In addition, the back up customer support is excellent – we can rely on Rock Drill Engineering to come up with the goods every time, when and where we need them.”
