The world can be aggravating—
The good news is that we are capable of choosing what we focus on. There will always be our beautiful Colorado sky and mountains--- or the garbage in the gutter at our feet. Do not worry, we are not denying that the garbage exist by choosing to look upward. But
where we look goes a long way to effect how we feel.
Example If someone speaks to you in a rude or angry manner decide that what they feel is their own decision and your response is your decision. As an experiment, try an empathetic response to see how their emotions might change.
Example Read, watch, and listen to positive influences. Between other people and the media we get enough negativity with out even trying. Take a trip to the bookstore or library for books, Tapes, CDs, videos and cards, calendars that uplift.
Example Really count your experiences of good fortune. Take a look through your life and ferret out all the best stuff-- all your successes, all the gifts you have and were given
Example Call and maintain contact with supportive friends, a supportive professional, or find a supportive therapist. Anyone who can keep you on a positive track Treat yourself to regular massage
Example Give yourself a formal pardon. We are all human and we make mistakes. Make amends to those you may have hurt and then move on. Take a “student of the world” approach. Use mistakes as learning opportunities.
