Salivary Diagnostics is quickly becoming one of dentistry’s most promising tools in the detection and prevention of oral-systemic diseases. As a result, The Richmond Institute of Continuing Dental Education has recently published a new CE course titled, “Salivary Diagnostics in Dentistry” with author and experienced clinician, Gwen Smukowski, RDH, BS, MBA.

While traditional diagnostic methods still prove to be effective (e.g. blood or urine), they are typically more complex and more expensive to conduct overall. Salivary diagnostics allows for a much simpler way to obtain the samples needed from patients, and is also safer for clinicians since they are less exposed to viruses like HIV or HVC.
In this course, Smukowski writes about the many benefits associated with salivary testing, including a review of diseases it is able to detect, and an overview of the latest products that are now available to the oral health community.
As with all Richmond Institute courses, this self-instructional course costs only $20.00, and is worth 2 CE credits. Richmond courses are also all certified by the ADA as a recognized provider of continuing dental education.
