InfoArmy Expands To Public Companies for Its Crowdsourced Competitive Intelligence Reports

Extends the reach of the crowdsourcing start-up to both public and private company reports for iPad and online

Oct. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- InfoArmy announced today that it is expanding beyond private companies -- researchers may now create Competitive Intelligence Reports on US public companies as well. This represents a major expansion for the San Mateo-based startup, which is pioneering the crowdsourcing model in the business intelligence industry.

The structured InfoArmy reports are a welcome alternative to wading through SEC records, and the standardized format facilitates comparisons between private and public companies.

The interactive reports were designed for the iPad and allow users to rapidly drill down to the information they need, including trend analysis of revenue estimates, news coverage, executive team changes, and website branding.

As InfoArmy founder and CEO Jim Fowler explains, “You can now learn in two minutes what otherwise would have taken two days to find on your own.”

Reports in InfoArmy’s database are linked to show each company in the context of its competitive ecosystem. For example, Spotify’s report compares revenue growth over time with Rdio, MOG, and Rhapsody.

Launched in June, InfoArmy already offers over 1,500 reports, from Twitter to Kickstarter. Each report costs $99 for a year subscription to both the iPad and web versions, including three comprehensive quarterly updates.

The expansion from private to public companies is a strategic move toward InfoArmy’s vision of creating Competitive Intelligence Reports for every company on the planet, in multiple languages.

It is a bold goal, but Fowler has the right background -- InfoArmy uses a crowdsourcing model similar to the one he developed at his prior company Jigsaw, which was acquired by Salesforce in 2010 for $175 million.

With the inclusion of public companies, Fowler expects a “land rush” among existing researchers to claim the reports on big companies such as Zynga or Facebook, since researchers are paid per sale of a given report.

InfoArmy has researchers on six continents, with representatives from countries as diverse as Switzerland, India, Australia, and South Africa. All sales revenue from a particular report is split 50/50 with the research team. Each report has both a Primary and Senior Researcher for quality control.

There are over 1,500 free and paid reports available at www.infoarmy.com.  The InfoArmy iPad app is free to download at the iTunes App Store and includes sample reports.
