SBPRA’s Sherrill S. Cannon Launches Fundraising Site for CureJM

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 5, 2012 - Award-winning children’s author Sherrill S. Cannon has teamed up with the CureJM (Juvenile Myositis) Foundation to help raise money to find a cure for this life-threatening disease. When purchased through the CureJM website Sherrill has set up, 50% of the price of her four rhyming picture books will go directly to the Foundation.

Sherrill came to know about JM through Addie; says the author, “Addie is a seven year old child with a beautiful smile and a lot of courage.  I have mentioned her on the Acknowledgements Page of my latest book, Gimme-Jimmy, as one of my prayer children for whom I dedicated the book. I am hoping my books can help us find a cure for this debilitating disease, affecting about 17,000 children in the US alone. According to the CureJM Foundation, Juvenile Dermatomyositis and Juvenile Polymyositis are the most common forms of JM, a rare autoimmune disease that causes a variety of debilitating symptoms. Some children experience a remission, while others will battle JM their entire lives, and complications can prove fatal.”

Cannon’s Gimme-Jimmy, The Magic Word, Peter and the Whimper-Whineys and Santa's Birthday Gift have won a dozen awards in 2011-12. The author is a former teacher, a grandmother of ten and “proud to be 72 years young”. All of her books teach good manners and consideration of others, disguised as fun stories. One reviewer has called Cannon “a modern day Dr. Seuss.”

The Mother-Daughter Book Review site generously joined in, purchasing a set of Sherrill’s books from the JM site that they used for a contest giveaway. The author hopes others will follow their inspiring contribution!
