META Honors Small Business Owners and Global Entrepreneurship Week with First Ever Online Auction

Oct. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- BOISE—Micro Enterprise Training & Assistance (META) is currently hosting its first online auction that will benefit local entrepreneurs. This auction features two week-long vacation packages to destination resorts in Mozambique and Zambia to be used in 2013. Each package includes its own unique offer—a Zambian safari and a wilderness spa retreat in Mozambique. All proceeds from bids will go towards benefitting META’s under-served entrepreneurs.

This inaugural auction is in celebration of Global Entrepreneurship week happening from November 12-18. This week-long event was launched in 2007 and brings together millions of people around the world each year to embrace innovation and inspire great ideas to become reality.

As a company that strives to help jumpstart new businesses in the Valley, this auction was created to be a mutually beneficial event to support and honor local entrepreneurs who have dedicated themselves to starting their own businesses with help from META’s programs and financial assistance. Throughout the duration of the online auction, bidders will be able to actively compete with one another for the highest bid—winning the packaged deal.

These African destination vacation packages will be promoted through the month of October to the end of Global Entrepreneurship week through META’s social media platforms, including the META website, Facebook, Twitter, and emails to META email subscribers.

META is a nonprofit microenterprise program of Mountain States Group, Inc.  It started operations in 2002 with a federal grant from the Office of Refugee Resettlement to provide technical assistance, business plan training, and microloans to refugees living in Idaho that had fled their homelands due to ethnic, religious, or political persecution.   Since that time, META has broadened its funding base with new grants through the U.S. Small Business Administration and Northwest Area Foundation to include immigrants, women, minorities, green-sector, and other under-served entrepreneurs.
