"This year's event is especially exciting for me," said Tom Arnold, founder of PetHub.com. "Our digital ID tags are the official tags awarded to and worn by this year's nominees." Arnold refers to his company's new pet ID tags that help get lost animals home faster and safer than any other product available through the use of the Internet, mobile phones, and the concept of what the company terms, "crowd-sourced safety."
"Because over 50% of us have smartphones, and nearly all of us have normal cell phones, we can all get animals home before it becomes necessary to take them to a shelter," explained Lorien Clemens, Marketing and Social Media Manager for PetHub. "PetHub's system not only sends a GPS map to pet owners, it shows critical data to the rescuer about the animal, whether it's crucial medications, rabies vaccination dates, microchip number, or multiple emergency phone numbers."
The company launched its new "Powered by PetHub" digital ID tags into over 1,000 pet stores across the U.S. last month through its manufacturing partners. Translated versions of PetHub's website also launched last month into the Dutch and German markets. "We will be in over 400 stores in the Netherlands by this November," said Arnold. "Maybe I'll have more success with people knowing me for getting lost pets home fast and hear fewer Roseanne Barr jokes," he said with a smile.
"These dogs are heroes to us and it's important that we continue to be heroes to them. That's PetHub's mission which is why we're so excited to be at the Hero Dog Awards," concluded Clemens.
