The 2013 Accord Sedan heralds in the ninth generation of the automaker’s venerable family sedan, and like previous models, it will be an elegant option for families and individuals alike. New technological features highlight the updates to the interior, as an 8-inch LCD screen is now standard on all models. Those that don’t come equipped with the available navigation system will use the screen to display phone and stereo information. Active noise cancellation is also standard, further reducing the impact of exterior noise on the inside of the vehicle.
The 2013 Accord’s engine will deliver the goods, too. It comes equipped with a 2.4L four-cylinder that produces 185 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque — a modest increase in power over the previous model. Unsurprisingly, fuel economy is also a strong point. While a manual transmission is standard, models equipped with the available continuously variable automatic transmission will be capable of achieving 27 mpg city/36 mpg highway (the manual still delivers respectable numbers at 24 mpg city/34 mpg highway). Drivers who want a gutsier on-road experience can opt for a 3.5L V6 engine that produces 278 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque — again a modest increase over the optional V6 of its predecessor.
The driving experience itself has also been refined, thanks in part to a fixed suspension that was revised from the 2012 model. The electric power steering system has been revised for this year’s Accord as well, delivering good handling and a steering wheel that’s light and easy to turn.
