Here come the girls! And mums...its National Business Mum Week!
Business Mum Week was created to inspire the growth of UK mum-owned enterprise. The week was the idea of a fellow business mum and founder of MumsClub, Jane Hopkins MBE with the aim of creating local media interest in mum run businesses and to create more mum-owned businesses.
Amanda Kennedy mum of 2 is a Salisbury mum who set up Kennedy PR in 2009 and is almost 4 years into celebrating its success. The company is an online Digital Marketing Company, which helps local and national businesses with social media marketing, search engine optimisation and copywriting. Amanda also helps and mentors a number of business owners with marketing and personal development.
‘Being a mum and running my own company has proved to be both rewarding and highly taxing! I am so lucky that the children have embraced my entrepreneurial spirit and support me wholeheartedly. Four years in and Kennedy PR is going from strength to strength. This would not have been possible without the support of my children, family, my partner Matthew and my very loyal clients.’
MumsClub founder, Jane Hopkins was awarded MBE this year for services to entrepreneurship she says “Being self employed is the perfect way to combine family life with generating a second income. Women now have the freedom to get paid to do something they love. Business is great for household finances, great for self esteem, great for work-life balance. Mum owned businesses generate £4.4billion a year for the UK economy, but there is little help and support out there for these ‘part time’ business owners, so starting up from home is a low cost, low risk and incredibly rewarding option. Business Mum Week demonstrates that with support from each other, a small group of like minded people can quite simply achieve great things.”
Kennedy PR has recently undergone some massive growth changes, and now works with web designers, proof-readers and other key marketing service providers to become the one stop shop for all on-line marketing. Amanda Kennedy continues to drive the business forward, and has great relationships with every client that Kennedy PR has, helping customers thrive, not just survive in this tough economic environment.
