PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 4, 2012 - Woomi’s Renderyard Short Film Festival application will enable viewers all across Europe to enjoy the films screened at this year’s festival from the comfort of their home.
The Short Film Festival attracts some of the brightest upcoming stars of filmmaking as they premiere their newest work to an international audience. Filmmakers are keen on showcasing their films on high-end devices so that discerning viewers can fully appreciate their quality while distinguishing these from other internet content.
With woomi, Renderyard can now embrace web-enabled television technology to reach a global connected audience for the very first time as a Smart TV Film Festival. woomi is available on Toshiba and Panasonic smart TVs, and via TechniSat ISIO receivers and accessed by millions of connected devices across Europe and the UK.
The Renderyard Short Film Festival provides a platform for international filmmakers and animators to showcase their latest work, focusing on experimentation and creativity through workshops using cutting-edge equipment, video editing and 3D animation technologies. Fubar Redux by Hasraf Dulull, a comic style short animation created with Nuke software, is testament to the application of such technology and was screened at last year’s edition of the Renderyard Short Film Festival then selected at the Cannes Short Film Corner 2012.
Over the last eight years Renderyard has built and fostered very strong links with leading film professionals including Pedro Lara, a celebrated VFX artist who worked on blockbuster films such as James Bond, Harry Potter and Batman. Directors are invited to discuss their film work and participate in Q&A sessions with the audience. Last year, the festival featured Kike Maíllo, director of the sci-fi film Eva starring Daniel Brühl, winner of best Original Screenplay at the Goya awards 2011, and Javier Garcia, visual effects supervisor for the film’s robotics effects and creation.
Renderyard continues to work with the best technology partners including woomi, Dailymotion, YouTube, Vimeo, FOX Networks and Tremor Media that embrace creativity and insight within the film industry to elevate the festival to becoming a global connected event.
