Happy Seventh Birthday Arbor!!

Oct. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Arbor Window Systems Ltd was set up on 30th September 2005 by its founders Paul Thorne and Mark Venables to manufacture hardwood Bifold Doors.

Both of the founders had previous experience in making timber Doors and Windows.

Paul has a background in manufacturing, making products and components from various materials including timber. Mark has spent all of his career working in the timber industry -primarily in a technical sales and marketing role-with lots of experience in selling timber windows and doors.

The target customers for the company are discerning end users, who want a quality door set for their own homes, or builders of small, high quality developments who want reliable, trouble free products for their customers.

When it came to selling a new product like bifold doors the company decided that the best route was to take the product to various home building and renovating shows and allow the “Great British Public” to see the system and simply “play” with it and “try it out”.

In the early days our pitch to the Great British Public was that this new system allowed the home owner to bring the “outside in” (they now say this to us!).

We demonstrated the easy movement of the doors (sometimes enlisting the help of a passing child!) which was made possible by the fact that the doors were top hung but more importantly because we had chosen to use the Centor sliding folding door hardware system. for our door sets. Centor is an Australian company which was founded by a German engineer and so you have German Engineering from Australia! The Centor system is made mostly from stainless steel, is of excellent quality and the elegant design allows the whole system to be adjusted for height and width-of huge importance for systems of this type especially when they are made from timber.

It is true to say that the Centor system has transformed the global sliding folding door market. Other folding sliding door systems that were around at the time were very “clunky”, were insecure and either lacked adjustment or adjustment was difficult (requiring three hands and the patience of Job!).
