94 Year Old Hollywood Publicist Will Compete In All 14 Events At Huntsman World Senior Games

Oct. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, CA - (10/4/2012) - Julian Myers ran 90 of the miles from San Diego, California, to Los Angeles for his 9Oth birthday,

and "will jog one-hundred miles from there for my hundredth in 2018. My wife and I invited 390 people

for dinner in 2008, and have started inviting 500 friends for March 4, 2018, to celebrate my then running one hundred miles around

my February 22nd birthday." said Myers.


Julian Myers Public Relations is still active in Los Angeles, where Myers began his public

relations career at 20th Century Fox, publicizing Elizabeth Taylor, John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe,

Clark Gable and other stars and films. He was the associate publicist for Marilyn. At 94 he is

thought to be the oldest still-active publicist in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,

and has been teaching Entertainment Public Relations at UCLA Extension for 35 years and at

Loyola Marymount University for 21.



Amigo-Day is a world holiday Julian and his wife founded nine years ago and are striving

to establish, "with limited success so far," he says. "All there is to Amigo-Day is what its motto

suggests - 'Just greet anyone anywhere, your way, any month's first Sunday.' I wore my

Amigo-Day t-shirt at earlier Huntsman competitions. Amigo-Day has been on Voice of America

four times and occasionally covered in the print media, but so far is not widely practiced."



Julian Myers is producing his first movie, "Hopper's Nighthawks - Ninety Minutes and Nine Lives."

which he wrote with screenwriter Arlene Clendenin. It dramatizes the conflict between

Hopper and his artist wife, amid the revolutionary upheavals as America plunges into World War

II, in 1942, which is when the world-famous "Nighthawks" painting debuted.



He now wears a "NIGHTHAWKS - THE Movie" t-shirt while competing. He is seeking a

financing co-producer. "I guess that even when in the air high jumping or long jumping, I'm still a

publicist," Julian jokes. (Apparently "ESPN - The Magazine" agrees with him, because the

September 23,2012, issue has a full-page color photograph of him - thus attired - long jumping.)
