Hotel San Carlos recently earned Platinum level green business certification by the Green Business Bureau, which is a national membership organization that uses an online assessment to certify green businesses. Hotel San Carlos’ green initiatives include big steps such as installing an ENERGY STAR thermostat to manage heating and cooling, along with lower hanging fruits such as instituting an optional towel and linen reuse policy for guests.  

Not only does owner, Robert Melikian, feel gratified about his hotel’s green achievements, but also its steps toward sustainability have benefitted the bottom-line: Mr. Melikian estimates that Hotel San Carlos’ energy efficiency initiatives have reduced gas and electric bills by 25%, even amidst rapidly rising fuel costs.
