Scott Helmer's 24 Nights Tour
- Oct. 3, 2012 - Phoenix, Ariz.
– It is after Thanksgiving when Christmas preparations really kick into high gear, but the joy of the holiday season can get lost amidst long to-do lists and obligatory events. The hustle and bustle can leave people feeling frazzled, which is the perfect time to take a break and catch a performance of singer/songwriter Scott Helmer on his Support YOUR Cause Tour 2012-2013 (http://scotthelmer.com/tour)
. Helmer’s 24 Nights good-cause performance marathon will have him road-tripping over 3,000 miles to do 24 consecutive performances in nine states. Why would Helmer put himself through such an exhausting schedule? He answered, “The holiday season is a magical time for most, but also a tough time of year for people who are down on their luck. It’s probably the most important time of the year to reach out and help people in need. Everyone can do something, whether big or small. The point is to raise awareness and get more people involved in doing good.” 24 Nights begins on November 29th in Chandler, Arizona and ends on December 25th in Minden, Nevada. In between are shows in California, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Kansas Wyoming and Utah. Each venue will be conducting its own fundraisers aimed at helping people in need during the holiday season with food and toy drives. All along the way, Helmer will also be donating his time to play for people in hospitals and assisted living facilities. “Christmas can be a lonely time for those folks, so I want to do what I do best to help spread a little holiday cheer,” Helmer said.
Helmer’s tour is inspired by the hard knocks experienced in his own life. “I know what it’s like to hit hard times. In the last recession, I ended up losing everything, including my business and my family,” said Helmer. “There are just going to be times when people, myself included, need a little help to get back on their feet. They need access to the lifeline that so many great organizations offer. But those groups need our support."
Helmer’s debut album, Wake Me When It’s Over,
scheduled for release on December 15, 2012, will be made available for free through his website (http://www.scotthelmer.com/
) to anyone who donates at least $5 towards the cause of their choice. A free download of the first track, Time To Say Goodbye
is available now at www.scotthelmer.com/music
. Helmer noted, “Ever since a particular episode of George Noory’s radio show, Coast to Coast AM (http://www.coasttocoastam.com/)
, I’ve been thinking a lot about the needs of our wounded veterans coming home, but people should contribute to whatever good cause they feel most passionate about.” Beginning August 1, there will be three easy steps to get the album: 1) Donate at least $5 to your favorite cause, 2) Send your donation confirmation email to email@example.com, and 3) After Helmer’s team confirms the donation, you’ll receive the link to download the album. Scott Helmer does not handle any actual donations, he’s only rewarding contributors with the album download.
The music on Wake Me When It’s Over
was co-written and co-performed by Scott Helmer (vocals and drums) and his photographer-
musician brother, Rich Helmer (http://www.richhelmerphotography.com/)
(guitar). The album was produced at the Waterfront Studios (http://www.waterfrontstudios.org/)
of legendary, multiple Grammy award winning producer Henry Hirsch (http://www.henryhirsch.com/
in Hudson, New York. Hirsch, whose credits include the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Madonna, and Mick Jagger, also contributed his own talent to the effort, playing bass guitar on all tracks and B3 organ on Look At My Face
. Described as a contagious, radio-friendly blend of rock and pop that also appeals to country and Americana fans, Wake Me When It’s Over
is a collection of songs that describe journeys of pain and loss, but that ultimately point towards a pathway of hope.
The Support YOUR Cause Tour 2012-2013
features solo acoustic performances of songs fromWake Me When It’s Over
along with covers of some of Scott’s favorite rock and country songs. The tour kicked off on April 30 and continues with more shows across the country. “I never expected this many bookings so early on.
