Enter the Merchant Mash Up.
For one special evening, restaurants provided free samples of signature dishes at retail locations. Whenever possible, tasting stations were set up at the back so that visitors would have to pass all the merchandise on their way to the food.
Restaurateurs were allowed to distribute promotional materials, and the downtown organization provided each with a $50 stipend. Merchants were encouraged to offer special discounts and creative displays for the event.
Since the inaugural event, the organization has sponsored two additional Merchant Mash Ups, which are now one of its signature events.
Details on the Merchant Mash Up and a copy of the event guide appear in the October issue of "Downtown Promotion Reporter" newsletter.
