Sorority demonstrates dedication to the needs of military families

CAMP LEJEUNE, NC, October 1, 2012 -- Carteret and Craven County Chapters of Beta Sigma Phi presented a donation to Hope For The Warriors® on October 1, 2012, at 10 a.m.  The check was presented to Leslie Hunt, the Hope For The Warriors® Regional Operations Coordinator at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, NC.  Hope For The Warriors® is a national nonprofit organization that assists combat wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen.

The North and South Carolina chapters of Beta Sigma Phi have supported Hope For The Warriors® since 2008 when they voted to accept Hope For The Warriors® as their state service project.  In 2010, chapters around the world voted to endow Hope For The Warriors® with a grant of $15,000 to be paid over a three-year period.

The check presented today was from the North and South Carolinas’ Convention held this past May in New Bern, NC.  The Executive Convention Committee made the decision to disperse the receipts in excess of expenses to local charities including Hope For The Warriors®.

Beta Sigma Phi’s of North and South Carolina are inspired by the women who founded Hope For The Warriors® and the women who volunteer their time to ensure the selfless sacrifice of the nation’s wounded heroes are not forgotten.  The women’s organization has, amongst its North and South Carolina membership, countless active duty, reserve, and veteran women as well as spouses, mothers, daughters, and sisters of service members.  For many, the mission of Hope For The Warrior® to “restore self, family, and hope” to service members and their families is a personal commitment.

“We are proud that Beta Sigma Phi has dedicated their efforts to the needs and challenges of today’s military family,” Hunt said.  “We are grateful that their membership supports our American heroes who have served and sacrificed.”

The mission of Hope For the Warriors® (www.hopeforthewarriors.org) is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.  Hope For The Warriors® is dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.

Hope For The Warriors® understands the challenges, pride, and joy of being a military family.  For today, tomorrow, and years to come, we will strive to meet the changing needs of service members and their families.

Hope For The Warriors® has earned a Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator (www.charitynavigator.org), an independent organization that evaluates fiscal responsibility and accountability of nonprofits.
