CSI’s major agenda, which it will discuss with the Government regarding institution of the following policies shared during the event is:
• Heart Healthy food and curriculum should be Mandatory in Schools.
• Reforms in Primary healthcare system of the country to include basic cardiac diagnostic and treatment facilities available at district level
• Regulation of TRANSFATS in Packed food as well as Restaurants.
• Regulating Corporate world to create Stress free and Heart Healthy environment for employees including exercise equipment
• Strict Policies on encouraging Green Spaces and walking grounds in all areas.
• State driven micro-insurance to cover the whole population for accessing the treatments
Along with, thousands of patients did cardiac check-ups, cleared their doubts through question and answer and had free ECG, blood tests and were taught basic life support to conquer Heart Disease in India.

WHO estimates that by 2020, Cardio vascular diseases will be the largest cause of disability and death in India. Currently there are 41 million suffering from diabetes, 118 million suffering from hypertension and if current trends continue the figures will rise to 70 and 213 million respectively by 2025.
“We need to act at ground level to create seriousness about this killer disease and shall impress the government to bring cardiovascular diseases at the forefront while creating central and state healthcare policies” said Dr Ashok Seth, President, Cardiological Society of India.
Supported by the medical and the corporate fraternity, the event also aimed towards creating awareness about those little lifestyle changes that one must bring about to lead a heart healthy life under aegis of CSI. The event was not only supported by Fortis Healthcare and other health brands like Abbott, Boston Scientific, Belluvia, Meril and USV but also food brand Quaker Oats, World’s leading oat brand, who reiterated the need for smart and healthy nutrition to prevent heart diseases. The brand presented finding of a sample study from their ongoing “Quaker Smart Heart Challenge” which has a participation from over 510,000 people.
The event advocated continuous heart care, irrespective of age and gender. A team led by Dr. Seth along with other leading doctors came together to drive awareness about prevention of heart diseases through interesting lectures and panel discussions. The event also highlighted various activities such as free cholesterol, cardiac checkups, healthy heart tips, healthy food habits etc. The corporate and medical fraternity extended its support by partnering with the event.
“I am happy that I attended this event. I am going back with complete knowledge of the heart disease and its prevention. I wish more events like this can be organised.” Said Rich Trivedi, resident of South Delhi who attended this event.
Parikrama, the most celebrated band of the country, leant its voice to the noble cause. “It gives me immense pleasure as we play today for this cause. Personally I feel that this is the biggest musical tribute that we could give to the loved ones we have lost to the disease”, said Subir Malik from Parikrama.
