Colorful, authentic, cultural and educational, this year the event is theme-based and focused on 2012 as being a water dragon year in Chinese astrology. Artists will create art history and guests will be entertained by interactivity, transforming music by DJ RomaSoul, live dragon-lady dance by performance artist Lady Jack, an impromptu photo studio, "Spark your Art" corner, up to five figure models in costume posed simultaneously at four separate stages, a kids station and more.
FEATURED ARTISTS: While there, check out live outdoor painting by acclaimed Chicago based artist Slang of Gala Gallery. Working from one of his favorite models, he will be creating "figurative graffiti" for all to enjoy. Artist Anjali Bahl will also grace the space and stimulate the senses with her underwater painted scenes, and artists from around the world will be logging in via online video with artist Cristy Corso in her photo booth. Creative producer, curator, artist and art party planner extraordinaire Jenny Lam will give visitors a chance to be part of the art itself as she creates a party within this party and launches her postcard project here in Chicago.
Visit http://www.ArtDepth.org for more details including a schedule of events which will be posted the night before the 6th. Artists should try to arrive early for choice seating and supplies. Art lovers come whenever you wish! This event is known to attract some of Chicago's most reputable fine artists so don't be surprised who you will see among the guests.
Alongside this event will be The Black Water Dragon Exhibition which will display work created by Bahl, Corso and Slang, as well as works by international artist Chaewon Kim, local artist Christina Caruso, as well as a video projection of additional fine artists.
"Art Depth's role in all this is simply to inspire; the resulting experience, art and evolution are in the hands of the participants"
Could it possibly be the last time this event will be available to the public?
"The decision to hold the party once again at Mautene Court came from overwhelmingly positive response from last year. As long as there's the means and community involvement, we'll continue to support this particular area. However, since Art Depth promises a completely different party year after year, there is no telling what next year will hold. The party will still go on, but 2012 may be the final year that it is public, so if you're thinking of going now is the time to show up" says its creator.
