Oct. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- (Dallas, TX) October 3, 2012 – The Dirty Girl Mud Run (DGMR) will be giving Dallas women some good, unclean fun while giving directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) in support of breast cancer early detection awareness.

On October 6, at Cedar Hill’s State Park, hundreds of women will be covered in mud, fun and laughter, thanks to the Dirty Girl Mud Run, which combines a 5k obstacle run with unique touches for all participants in this one-of-a-kind, women only event.

In the spirit of empowering women through camaraderie, the Dirty Girl Mud Run will donate over $250,000 to NBCF in 2012, as well as provide 250 cancer survivors with complimentary registration at each event.  In 2013, Dirty Girl Mud Run’s goal is to donate over $1,000,000 to NBCF, and to challenge Dirty Girl participants to match their efforts by raising additional funds for this great cause.

The mission of NBCF is to save lives through early detection and to provide mammograms for those in need and includes increasing awareness through education, providing diagnostic breast care services for those in need, and providing nurturing support services.

“We’re excited to be a part of this unique event that brings the women of Dallas together,” says NBCF Founder and CEO Janelle Hail. “The day will offer women a chance to be athletic, give back and share their stories of inspiration. These donations allow us to fulfill our mission of providing education, mammograms and breast health services to women in need.”

The day begins at 8am with the first wave of contestants running through the iconic 20-foot high Dirty Girl Starting Arch. The start area features a specially selected music track that rocks the crowd, pumps up Dirty Girls and sets the stage for each wave departing every subsequent 15 minutes. The course concludes with a sloshing crawl through a 40-foot long mud pit; energizing Dirty Girls with the laughter, encouragement and cheering of teammates, supporters, friends and families. In between, women will traverse obstacles specifically designed for fun and safety and guaranteed to deliver a sense of euphoria and accomplishment.

After completing the course, runners will be able to clean up in a special area, change clothes and celebrate with their families and friends and enjoy food, refreshments, music and dancing. The DGMR’s main goal is to provide a non-intimidating environment for women ages 14 and up and of all abilities in which they can “let their hair down and enjoy some mud, sweat and cheers.” They encourage runners to take it easy and have fun. They also encourage spectators to bring a camera, because the filthy pictures will be priceless.

The Dirty Girl Mud Run Series debuted in 2011 to a sold-out field of over 6,000 women in Wisconsin. The event has gained such instant popularity that women across the country, including Dallas, have started clamoring for the muddy fun.
