National Chocolate Week is a celebration in itself, dedicated to showcasing the very best chocolatiers at venues across the country. From well-known craftsmen, such as Lindt, who have been honing their chocolate-making skills for decades, to relatively new chocolatiers with new and innovative processes, such as Akesson’s and The Grenade Chocolate Company, the week is a festival celebrating everything remotely chocolatey and allowing members of the public to get involved in acclaiming one of their favourite treats.
Hosting the evening of chocolatey goodness is Sundial venue Highgate House. Situated in the countryside just north of Northampton, the stunning building is set in twenty-six acres of perfectly manicured grounds, ideal for an evening getaway. The Northamptonshire meeting venue offers accommodation options for those who want to turn their chocolatey excursion into a weekend break, and aside from the leisure facilities on site (which include a swimming pool and a sauna), Highgate House is ideally situated for relaxing golf courses, as well as days out to Rockingham Castle and Althorp.
The Terrace Restaurant, home to award-winning chef Lee Gaskins and able to seat up to one hundred and fifty guests will host the event, and as the name of the evening might suggest, each course on the menu is infused with chocolate in some new and intriguing way. The starter course is mouth-watering Cajun-style chicken, with chilli flakes and white chocolate, served on a bed of rocket salad. The main course consists of a tender roast sirloin of beef, with cream potatoes and a rich red wine and shallot sauce, finished with delectably smooth dark chocolate. Then, the big finale: the dessert course features a trio of chocolate profiteroles with dark chocolate sauce, milk chocolate torte with hazelnuts, and white chocolate and raspberry mille feuille. Guests will be offered coffee and petite fours after their meal, and invited to relax in the beautiful surroundings of Highgate House.
All ingredients used in the Terrace Restaurant are locally sourced, responsibly disposed of and as fresh as possible to ensure the greatest taste for guests. Suppliers are sustained to ensure that they adhere to sustainable practices, and Fairtrade and GM-free foods are highly promoted.
