Recognizing the importance of breastfeeding for a child’s health, many businesses have successfully implemented support programs. Breastfeeding provides numerous health benefits for both the mother and infant. In San Diego County, 89% of mothers choose to breastfeed their infants and wish to continue to do so after returning to work.
“We applaud these workplaces in supporting families, and in particular, for facilitating breastfeeding of infants after their mothers return to work,” stated Dr. Nancy Wight, Neonatologist and Secretary of the SDCBC. “Mothers who work and breastfeed miss less time from work due to illnesses of their children, and these employers are leaders and serve as role models for other employers in our community.”
The Liquid Gold Gala event includes cocktails, dinner, entertainment and a silent auction at the Southwestern Yacht Club located at 2702 Qualtrough Street, San Diego, California 92106. Tickets and registration are available online at www.breastfeeding.org, and clicking on the Events tab. Prices are $100.00 per person.
