Oct. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Phoenix, Ariz. – Patricia Dickenson had a long-time flair for home design and décor that needed an outlet beyond her own family. Beatriz Thomas had a knack for business, having managed supply chains for everything from shoes to helicopters. When they met, they both soon realized they were the perfect match to put it all together into The Salvage Company, a business venture that specializes in breathing new life into found vintage objects for home furnishings and décor.

To promote their business, Dickenson and Thomas have hit the highways to bring their Vintage Roadshow to dozens of locations throughout Arizona and southern California. The next stop on their itinerary will be a two-day retail and workshop extravaganza at the Blue Adobe Event Center in historic downtown Florence, Arizona on October 13-14 from 9 AM to 5 PM both days.  Admission is free.

As Thomas puts it, “We are constantly scouring the entire country for materials to create our products.  Whether it’s wood from an old barn in upstate New York or vintage tin from a ceiling in a vacant ice cream parlor in Iowa, we either offer the items for sale 'as-is' or repurpose them to make something entirely new.” Plenty of their own repurposing efforts will be available for viewing and purchase at the Florence event. All items are made from authentic, found vintage materials, which makes most of them one-of-a-kind gems that can't be found elsewhere. They're also planning free giveaways throughout the two-day event.

Sharing their expertise with people is an important part of the Vintage Roadshow.  Anyone who wants an introduction to the world of DIY shabby chic can sign up for a workshop taught by Dickenson on Saturday, October 13 from 10 AM to 1 PM. “I love showing people ways to take something old and worn out and give it an updated look that still makes it appear as if it’s a treasured family keepsake,” Dickenson said. She explained that each person who enrolls will be given a piece of furniture or home décor courtesy of The Salvage Company that they will refinish during the class and take home afterwards. The cost of the workshop is $99 in advance or $125 the day of the event and space is limited. To register and take advantage of the special $99 rate call 480.323.9238.
