Oct. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Beijing, China – Michael E. Graham, DPM, FACFAS, FAENS, founder of GraMedica® and creator of HyProCure®, embarked on an educational trip to China in order to share his expertise.

Foot and ankle surgery has been an evolving orthopedic specialty in China with a rapidly growing awareness. HyProCure® was first introduced to Chinese Surgeons at the Sixth International Congress of (the) Chinese Orthopaedic Association (COA) in Beijing, China December, 2011. HyProCure® received SFDA approval in 2011, and in April of 2012 the first EOTTS procedures in China were performed. Many prominent Chinese foot and ankle specialists have been eager to learn more about HyProCure® and the possibilities it can offer their patients to help improve their quality of life.

Graham started his journey at the 2012 TongRen Foot and Ankle Symposium, held in Beijing, China, September 14 -16. The event was host to over 300 orthopedic foot surgeons, the elite foot surgeons of China. Dr. Graham presented many lectures at the symposium related to Talotarsal Displacement and Extra-Osseous TaloTarsal Stabilization (EOTTS).” The first foot cadaver course ever held in China was hosted during the symposium, which was a cadaver course on EOTTS with HyProCure®.

After the symposium Graham made his way to Xi’an where he worked with foot surgeons at the Red Cross Orthopedic Hospital. Here he was able to visit with the first HyProCure® patient in China. While there he gave a lecture to more than 50 orthopedic surgeons at the hospital and performed a HyProCure® procedure for a local pediatric patient.

Next Dr. Graham traveled to ZhengZhou, a city of 13,000,000 people, and presented a lecture at the leading orthopedic hospital, where they will soon open their first foot and ankle center. In recognition of his expertise, he was appointed as a guest professor at the hospital.

To conclude his trip, Dr. Graham headed to Shanghai to present a lecture to their leading pediatric orthopedic foot surgeons on the importance of extra-osseous talotarsal stabilization. It was an amazing trip,” shared Graham. “I was eager to be able to educate and work with the foot and ankle specialists of China. They can now take all they have learned and help change the lives of their patients.”
