Visit The Signature Room At The 95th® To Benefit The October Charity Of The Month, One For The Kids

Oct. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- CHICAGO, Ill. – One for the Kids is the non-profit chosen to benefit from the year-long Charity of the Month program at The Signature Room at the 95th®. The program was created by co-owners of The Signature Room, Rick Roman and Nick Pyknis in 1993. Since the programs inception, the Charity of the Month program has contributed to over 200 Chicagoland non-profits with donations totaling over $1 million. One for the Kids will receive 10 percent of sales generated from the Signature Monthly Dinner Menu throughout October.

One for the Kids was established in 1993 by a group of people who wanted to make a difference and better their community. Since its first event almost 20 years ago, the organization has raised over $400,000 for various children’s charities in the Chicagoland area, including Special Children's Charities of Chicago, Benton Community Settlement, and The Heart Institute for Children at Hope Children’s Hospital. The hospitality-centric board, including Tim O’Malley, John Curran, Tim Carey and others, host a summer golf outing and winter cocktail party each year. The Signature Monthly Dinner Menu offers enticing options for each course in addition to a Signature cocktail. Menu items have been customized exclusively for the October Charity of the Month, One For The Kids. The Signature cocktail, a pumpkin pie martini made with Pinnacle pumpkin spice vodka, butterscotch schnapps and cream will evoke the feeling of fall with each sip. Starters include a spice crusted pork belly with celery root, apple salad and orange-fennel purée; roasted squash soup with coconut cream, curry peanuts and fresh chives; or an escarole salad with a shoestring potato basket and poached farm egg served with coriander-mustard vinaigrette. Savory main courses include seared escolar served with pumpkin risotto and herb coulis or a roasted pheasant breast with cranberry bean ragout and pheasant jus. The apple tart tatin served with calvados-caramel sauce and topped with whipped cream is the perfect ending to a delicious meal.

Mission statements of all Charity of the Month non-profits are posted on the restaurant’s website along with full details regarding the application and review process. All beneficiaries are chosen during an annual application review.
