David Constable, Managing Director of Constables Mobility, presented the award for the best mobility product award to www.Access4Wheelchairs.com for their revolutionary stair-climbing wheelchair.
As well as announcing the awards, Helen Dolphin, Director of Policy and Campaigns for DMUK, gave an update about the charity’s Baywatch and sled-test campaigns.
Three paralympians, including triple gold medal winner in dressage Sophie Christiansen, bronze medallist and wheelchair tennis player Louise Hunt and discus English record holder Kieran Tscherniawsky, were also honoured at the award ceremony. They helped the charity launch a new initiative called ‘Look for the Label’ which will help disabled people and their carers identify whether wheelchair accessible vehicles have been properly crash tested. Constables Mobility is the first convertor to start using the labels and others are expected to follow soon.
David Constable, Managing Director of Constables Mobility, said: “We were absolutely delighted and proud to sponsor DMUK’s annual awards and to meet so many inspiring and talented individuals. The charity is doing some great work, particularly in the area of vehicle safety and parking.”
