Intorel: Case Study - Installation of the Uplink M&C system in Myanmar

In December 2011, the Intorel team went to Myanmar to install an Uplink Monitoring & Controlling system on the Tanyin Uplink station, which belongs to the Ministry of Telecommunications.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 2, 2012 - Intorel Sarl, based In Luxembourg, proved how much you can do in just 4 days with a bit of planning ahead, testing and more testing, while talking on board clients requirements.

The client, Myanmar’s Ministry of Telecommunications, was looking for a fast and reliable installation of the Uplink Monitoring and Controlling system, but with the equipment procured locally.

The answer to requirements when it comes to software was Intorel’s Visionic 5 Professional, industry standard with vast library of device drivers gathered over the past 12 years.

Myanmar’s Ministry of Telecommunications sent station’s hardware schematic month ahead of the mission, and everything was prepared in advance in Intorel’s Luxembourg office.

All device drivers for the equipment were tested in Luxembourg, so that once in Myanmar, the only step pending was installation of the software on the server and the client in Tanyin.

Answering client’s requirement on procuring equipment locally was the task for Intorel’s local partner Anat Bongsudhiruks from Anatron, who organised and secured timely shipment and procurement of all of the equipment locally.

Apart from this being one of the client’s requirement, buying equipment locally also helped prevented any transport and customs issues related to importing of the equipment.

Due to planning ahead, and Anatron colleagues, equipment was  was already there when Intorel team arrived on the site, in Tanyin.

Demo version of the system was already working and tested in Luxembourg, so the first phase upon arrival of the Intorel team in Myanmar was to start cabling and connecting the equipment to the server.

As the equipment on the uplink station in Tanyin was outdated, the connectors and cables had to be rearranged as to fit properly.

Client, Myanmar’s Ministry of Telecommunications had an active role in the process of the installation and connection of the system, as to be up to date with the process of installation.

Advising and informing clients on the process of installation, as well as training them so they would know how to fix any issue themselves is the best way to maintain a trusting client/solution provider relationship.

This way, they would know how everything was installed and connected and where everything is, so that in case there would be a problem they would know how to repair it themselves.

After the whole installation of the server and the connection of the rest of the gear were done, Intorel team tested it to check the communication of the server with the equipment.
After setting up of the system and testing, the next phase was providing training.

Over the course of training Intorel introduced in depth Myanmar’s Ministry of Telecommunications with its flagship product: Visionic Professional, now installed on the Uplink station in Tanyin.

Visionic5 Professional is based on a very simple idea – the engineer draws the system and this drawing is compiled into the standalone, client-server solution.

Visionic sophisticated GUI, based on Microsoft Visio® contains libraries with hundreds of devices to allow you a simple “drag and drop” of selected device into your system design.
