“Our Centennial Open House and Volunteer Appreciation Party is a way to showcase all the CMC has to offer as well as pay tribute to the 3,000 dedicated volunteers of the organization”
CMC members and non-members are invited to participate in one of several workshops scheduled throughout the day, including a speaking event 12,000 Feet Above Pikes Peak: Climbing an 8,000 Meter Mountain by Mike Teger from 9 AM to 3 PM. Lunch will be provided by Natural Grocers and drinks by O'dell's Brewing company. Members and nonmembers interested in participating in the event can register at www.cmc.org/
The Centennial Open House and Volunteer Appreciation Party is part of the Colorado Mountain Club’s Kaiser Permanente Centennial Celebration series celebrating the club’s 100 years of backcountry conservation, education and adventure. The club was founded by two dozen backcountry recreationalists in April of 1912, and today it has over 7,000 members. The organization played an instrumental role in the creation of Rocky Mountain National Park. Additionally, through its courses, it has helped tens of thousands learn how to enjoy the backcountry safely; its members organize and lead approximately 3,000 backcountry trips in Colorado, around the Rockies, and throughout the world every year.

About the Colorado Mountain Club
The Colorado Mountain Club is the premier outdoor conservation, education, and recreation organization in Colorado. Founded in 1912, CMC reaches an annual constituency of over 40,000 citizens, including 7,000 members and 6,000 youth, providing a comprehensive and diverse range of programs and activities. Programs revolve around education, conservation, science, history, policy, recreation, arts and culture. The CMC offers a wide range of opportunities for the public to explore, observe, and learn about the Southern Rockies, while simultaneously leading efforts to protect the species, habitats, and wildness of our public lands. The CMC publishes a quarterly magazine, Trail & Timberline, and operates a press with more than 20 current titles. No other organization in the Intermountain West has such a strong or broad-based approach connecting people to our Colorado landscape.
