Best Buy Awards $10,000 Community Grant To Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Beaver County

Employee-led grant making program funds organization that empowers teens
 
Oct. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- (MONACA, PA), October 1, 2012 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Beaver County has received a $10,000 Community Grant from Best Buy Co., Inc. Best Buy leaders at store 684, located in Monaca, PA,  selected Big Brothers Big Sisters of Beaver county from submitted proposal requests because of their dedication to closing the digital divide for teens and providing them access to opportunities through technology to help them excel in school, and develop 21st century work force skills.

“Big Brothers Big Sisters has a huge success record turning at risk youth who come from single parent homes into productive successful citizens through their 1 on 1 mentorship program,” said Sharon Baskin, General Manager for Best Buy. “Best Buy strives to be at the intersection of technology and life,” said John Doe, vice president of merchandising for Best Buy.

The Best Buy Community Grants Program is led by employee committees in each of the company’s twelve territories across the United States. Best Buy believes its employees are best able to build and maintain lasting community partnerships and should be empowered to help direct funding to nonprofit organizations in their communities through Community Grants and TagTeam Awards for volunteerism. This year, Best Buy Children's Foundation will give $2.75 million through the Community Grants Program.
