Oct. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Lenexa--The Covenant Place of Lenexa Founder’s Circle members prepare to move into their new community early next year.  At the recent Founder’s Circle meeting, guest speaker Brian Walton of Assisted Moving of Kansas City spoke to the group concerning preparing for their upcoming move.  Although the community will not be ready for occupancy until Spring of 2013 the group was given great advice to help begin the moving process.  Mr. Walton encouraged the members to begin downsizing by starting in rooms that are not very full.  One of the recommendations was to use a two box and a bag approach to organizing and cleaning out each room.  This includes a box to move, a box to donate and a bag for trash.  Linda Townsend, Independent Living Director, gave members advice saying “The Christmas season will be here soon and this is the perfect time to downsize.  You can wrap the items that you would like to give to your family members.  They can’t say no to a Christmas gift.” Mr. Walton advised the Founder’s Circle concerning the advantages and disadvantages of estate sales.  He described how much easier it is to have an estate sale when all of your items are moved to your new community before the estate sales happens.  The future Covenant Place of Lenexa residents were thankful to get information that will make their moving process much easier.

Construction of the 112 unit multi-level retirement community continues to move along nicely.  Other than the heat it has been a good year to be building.  Although the community is a long way from completion, the building is starting to take shape.  Builders are almost finished with the roof sheeting on the Independent Living portion of the building, and framing of the Skilled Long Term Care units are currently underway.
