This mob included abseils by the Queensland Minister for National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing, Steve Dickson and local Outdoor-tober Ambassador, John Cantor who recently completed an epic solo journey through the Alaskan wilderness. Mr Dickson said he was thrilled to be an active part of the inaugural Outdoor-tober launch, he said “I’m very pleased to support the Outdoor-tober initiative, and would urge all Queenslanders to give something new a go with family and friends this month.” Mr Cantor was also enthusiastic about the opportunity to share his passion for the outdoors, commenting, “I’m really happy to be part of Outdoor-tober and help QORF encourage people to get outdoors, be active and healthy.” Local recreation clubs and outdoor providers were also present to support the initiative, including representatives from the Australian Climbing Association (Queensland) Ian Lightbody, General Manager, Scouts Australia – Queensland, explained, “Scouting is all about getting into the outdoors, we do a lot of hiking, sailing and paddling.
